Leadership Washington Co. is a program designed to identify, educate and motivate leaders to ultimately involve them actively in community. Leadership Washington Co.has been identifying and preparing future leaders through its Leadership Washington Co. program since 1998.
The LWC model focuses on transformational leadership, which creates valuable and positive change in individuals, both personally and professionally. LWC is a 9 month, intensive program that develops & equips effective leaders to strengthen & improve our communities. Through monthly, day long sessions that run from September through May, participants are guided to a better understanding of themselves, their community, and the skills necessary to assume and enhance their leadership roles so they can have a positive impact in Washington County.
From the welcome reception to the graduation ceremony, participants interact and build teamwork skills with classmates from various organizations and background. Sessions are typically held the 3rd Tuesday of the month and address topics such as board membership, business and economic development, justice system education system, quality of life, leadership in a changing society, health and human services, and government and politics.
After graduation, Leadership Washington Co. provides participants with opportunities for board membership in order to stay actively involved in the community.
"Leadership Washington Co. provides the opportunity for professionals in our area to learn more about the inner workings of our judicial system, meet our elected officials, tour health care facilities, and see several of the amazing gems we have in this region. In addition, the program is set up for networking with your classmates as well as with the robust group of speakers at each session. The class attendees become close and form lasting friendships and professional relationships. If you are a professional looking to learn more about how to positively impact our communities, then Leadership Washington Co. is for you.”
